What can I say compared to Kununurra. Port is not a pretty town even though it is up for an award for Tidy Towns 2009 and along with the mining, while not in town, there is the salt mining well actually salt via evaporation pools. They produce 10% of the world's salt here in Port Hedland. the pools are filled with the ocean and then left to evaporate. this 'hill' of salt has been collected since we have been here
Now the rest of the town there are some pretty parts, but on the whole not the best place, not much grass, and you can not even swim in the ocean. There is one place to swim, but you have to be careful of the stone fish
